NALED and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a framework for joint efforts to advance sustainable socio-economic development, gender equality, demographic resilience, and family-friendly, gender-responsive policies in Serbia.
The Memorandum was signed by Violeta Jovanović, Executive Director of NALED, and Justin Coulson, Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Serbia.
The partnership will focus on supporting the private, public, and civil society sectors in developing policies and practices that help employees achieve a better work-life balance, strengthen support for parenthood, improve employee well-being, promote equal opportunities, and advance gender-responsive human resource management.
The Memorandum envisages the organization of joint events, campaigns, conferences, and consultations, as well as the exchange of knowledge, research, and analyses. It also includes the development of guidelines and tools to help companies and institutions enhance socially responsible and inclusive practices.
A particular area of cooperation will be activities implemented through NALED’s ESG Hub, with a focus on the social dimension of sustainable business and the development of workplaces that respond to the needs of employees and their families.
The partnership builds on the organizations’ previous cooperation in promoting work-life balance, supporting working parents, and fostering workplace environments that contribute to greater employee satisfaction and productivity.
As Serbia faces significant demographic challenges, including population ageing, migration, youth emigration, and the need to strengthen human capital, advancing policies in these areas is an important component of the country’s social and economic sustainability.
Through joint events, campaigns, research, guidelines, tools, and future projects, NALED and UNFPA will work to ensure that these issues are more strongly integrated into business practices, public policies, and local initiatives.
