The eGovernment Days and Caravan were held in Čačak with the aim of introducing citizens to the opportunities and benefits of using electronic services.
Assistant Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, Biljana Marić, Deputy Mayor of the City of Čačak, Vladan Milić, NALED Program Director, Jelena Bojović, and UNDP Project Manager, Sanja Arizanović, visited the promotional stand and spoke with citizens.
At the beginning of the training on the implementation of the eSick Leave – Employer system, intended for representatives of public administration and the business sector, Assistant Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Biljana Marić and Deputy Mayor Vladan Milić addressed the participants.
“Special emphasis is placed on improving digital services that directly impact the efficiency of employers and institutions, including the eSick Leave – Employer system. Its implementation simplifies administrative procedures, accelerates data exchange, and reduces the need for paper documentation. The City of Čačak is already achieving strong results in the use of electronic services. Through the eGovernment Portal, more than 56,000 appointments have been scheduled for issuing ID cards and passports, demonstrating that citizens widely use the benefits of digital services. At the same time, 86,327 data exchanges have been carried out through the eZUP system, avoiding the need for citizens to collect documents in person and visit multiple counters in many cases. There is still room for further improvement in the full implementation of the electronic registry office, which would further contribute to faster and more efficient work of the city administration,” said Biljana Marić.
UNDP Project Manager Sanja Arizanović emphasized that support for digital transformation is one of UNDP’s priorities.
“Participation in the joint initiative ‘eGovernment for All,’ which we are implementing together with the Office for IT and eGovernment and NALED, confirms our commitment to further improving existing electronic public services and developing new ones. Through visits to local governments, such as today’s in Čačak, we have the opportunity to understand the challenges they face, as well as to present to citizens what digitalization brings to them. The direct involvement of citizens in the creation of new eServices will remain in focus of our work in the period ahead,” said Arizanović.
“Cooperation between NALED and Čačak has lasted for more than 20 years and represents an example of how concrete results in modernizing local administration can be achieved through partnership. Čačak has been an active participant in reforms from the very beginning and is now among the cities that successfully implement key digital services and continuously improve administrative work. It is therefore no coincidence that we will soon launch a new project, DIGIT, in Čačak, with the support of the EU Delegation to Serbia, aimed at making digital services more accessible to all citizens, especially vulnerable groups,” emphasized Jelena Bojović.
“Digitalization of public administration is one of the key steps toward a more efficient, transparent, and accessible local government for all our citizens. By introducing electronic services, we enable both citizens and businesses to exercise their rights faster, more easily, and without waiting, saving both time and resources. It is particularly important that such activities also raise the level of knowledge among employees in public administration and the business sector, as only a well-trained system can provide high-quality services. We will continue to keep pace with modern technologies in order to improve our services for citizens, while also fostering the development of the entire city, making it more attractive for investment and an even better place to live,” said Deputy Mayor Vladan Milić.
The eGovernment Days and Caravan are organized by the Office for IT and eGovernment as part of the “eGovernment for All” and “EDGE” projects, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), NALED, the Digital District, and the World Bank.
The goal of these activities is to ensure that eGovernment becomes accessible to everyone, regardless of the size and capacity of local governments. As part of the Caravan, training is also organized for representatives of public administration, the business sector, and local governments on how to use the eSick Leave – Employer application and the ePay system.
These activities provide a unique opportunity for local governments to improve their services, optimize processes, and become recognized leaders of digital transformation, for the benefit of citizens and the economy.
